About Ford Ford
Ford Motor Company has been selling mass-produced vehicles in the United States and around the world for more than 100 years now. Recognized as one of the Big Three American manufacturers, Ford has fascinated millions of loyal customers with a large variety of dynamic and ground-breaking products that present significant value for the money. The automaker's trucks and SUVs have been particularly admired. Ford's F-Series truck has been the best-selling automobile in the United States for decades.
In 1903, the company was established by Henry Ford. Ford dreamed of constructing a car for the masses, and that is exactly what he did. Starting with 1903's Model A, the Michigan-oriented company slowly rolled out an array of conservatively priced automobiles that were normally named by using the letters of the alphabet. Ford's early years were also eminent by its introduction of the moving assembly line.
In 1925, Ford extended into the luxury-coupe market with its acquisition of Lincoln Motor Company. The company, over the next few years, widened its focus even more by producing the Mercury division to manufacture mid priced cars. Ford had revealed the elegant Lincoln Zephyr by the late '30s, launched a low-priced V8 engine and created over 25 million automobiles.
By the 1970s, Ford was starting to undergo the effects of varying consumer tastes and new government regulations. A lot of of its cars became old and untrendy. By the mid- to late '80s, Ford was screening new power with its well-liked Escort and Taurus models while further growing its empire with the acquisition of the Jaguar and Aston Martin brands.
In the 1990s, Ford rode a wave of popularity due to the success of its Explorer midsize SUV. In 1999, Ford prolonged its family yet again with the acquisition of Volvo's car division, and, in 2000, it purchased Land Rover.
But the new millennium has seen a slump for Ford due to legacy costs, increased competition, and a dependence on SUVs for profit have taken their toll.
